Extras are optional add-ons that travelers can select during booking, such as activities, services, or upgrades.
Extras are managed in Inventory and then configured per departure for pricing and availability.
Permissions required: Tours → Create, Update
How to add an extra?
Open the tour you want to configure.
In the left-hand menu, go to Inventory.
Select Extras (1).
Click Add extra (2).
How can I modify the extra?
When adding or editing an extra, configure the following fields:
Title | The name of the extra shown to travelers during booking (e.g. Private Photoshoot, Airport Transfer). |
Description | What the extra includes. Visible to travelers in the booking flow. Supports rich text formatting. |
Image | An image representing the extra, displayed to travelers during booking. |
Charge type | Per traveler — quantity capped at the number of travelers in the booking. Each traveler can have at most one unit. |
Booking deadline | The number of days before the trip's last day by which the extra must be purchased. Set to 0 to allow purchases through the final day of the trip. |
Can travelers add extras after booking?
Bookers can purchase extras after their booking is confirmed, directly from the customer portal — without needing to contact the operator.
How it works
The booker opens their booking in the customer portal and goes to the Extras tab.
The tab shows two sections: Your extras (already on the booking) and Add to your trip (available to purchase).
The booker clicks Add on an extra card, adjusts the quantity if needed, and reviews the Summary panel.
When ready, the booker clicks Complete purchase, selects a payment method, and confirms.
The charge is processed immediately. The extras move to Your extras and a confirmation email is sent to the booker.
An extra is only available for post-booking purchase if its booking deadline has not passed. The deadline is calculated as a number of days before the trip's last day.
How does payment work?
The charge is taken immediately at the time of purchase using the booker's selected payment method.
How the payment plan is updated depends on the booking's payment status:
Booking has an active installment plan | An Additional charges installment is added to the payment plan (or updated if one already exists). It appears between the deposit and the first installment. |
Booking is fully paid | The extras total is added to the booking's overall total. No payment plan modification is made. |
Post-booking extras are available when enabled for your organization. Contact your account manager if you don't see this option.
